The annual Brain Bowl competition engages students in a friendly competition while teaching them about black history. The annual Brain Bowl competition features Black History questions for teams of five from each Middle School and High School in Hillsborough County. High school and middle school students are invited to participate and students receive a monetary prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. HABSE offers Chats across the district where educators come together to discuss specific topics. During these discussions they talk about concerns, solutions and strategies that support teachers and students achievement. These discussion are also shared with the district to improve the educational process for all.
Student Awards Program
For twenty-five Hillsborough Alliance of Black School Educator has recognized Hillsborough County students with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. At our annual ceremony selected students receive book stipend scholarships and all students who attend the ceremony receive a medallion for their outstanding achievements.

Students Mentoring Students
Students Mentoring Students is an in-school program that enlists high school students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher to mentor peers in their area weekly for volunteer hours. Student Mentors who complete the most hours will be recognized and eligible for cash prizes. You will need to be trained as a SERVE Volunteer.
