Welcome to the Hillsborough Alliance of Black School Educator (HABSE) website. We are an organization dedicated to providing support to teachers and making improvements in establishing equity in education for all students. HABSE also actively supports legislation that is aligned with student achievement.
HABSE seeks to:
- Create a forum for the exchange of ideas and strategies to improve the success rate of African-American students in the K-12 public education system, particularly the high suspension rate and academic achievement gap.
- Develop and cultivate a support system for educators to share resources and engage in rich dialogue and identifying best practices.
- Support student achievement and exposing students to collegiate opportunities (i.e. mentorship, collegiate and professional development).
I consider it a privilege and an honor to work amongst some of the most dynamic, inspiring and committed individuals serving the children in our county! I challenge each of you to join us to develop a platform to raise the discussion and challenge the status quo with regard to equity in education and the disparities that exists in the graduation and discipline rates.
